Hakodate was a great place to spend a few days, after the 54 km tunnel under the water to reach Hokkaido Island. Our hike up Mt Hakodate was well timed, as we got the views, before the rains came down on our descent.
For one week a year, during Golden Week, Sapporans are permitted to have BBQ's in Maruyama Park. This coincides with the cherry blossom tradition of hanami, so many families and friends gather underneath the trees.
