CANCER SURGERY BREAKTHROUGH

The FDA has approved a pioneering drug for ovarian cancer surgery developed at Purdue by Professor Philip Low and team. Read more about how the drug, Cytalux, allows surgeons to find additional cancer lesions and watch Dr. Low explain the chemistry of fluorescent imaging.

Distinguished Professor

Sabre Kais has been named a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry. He is one of the world’s leading experts and leaders in the field of quantum information science and has made numerous highly creative and important contributions to quantum theory and quantum computing. Read more

University Faculty Scholar

Professor Shelley Claridge has been named a University Faculty Scholar for 2022. This five year award recognizes outstanding mid-career faculty who are on an accelerated path for academic distinction.

NAMED professorship

Jianguo Mei (left) Dick and Judy Wien (right)

Professor Jianguo Mei has been named the Richard and Judith Wien Associate Professor of Chemistry for a five year term in recognition of his high academic accomplishment. This professorship was made possible by a generous gift from Dick and Judy Wien. Dick is a 1967 undergraduate alum of our department, and his wife Judy is also a Purdue undergraduate alum from Health and Human Sciences. Read more

GradUATE School Award

Jennifer Garcia was recognized by the Purdue Graduate School with its Boiler Changemaker Award for outstanding dedication as a Chemistry teaching assistant. Jennifer is a graduate student in Professor Marcy Towns’ research group.
