Principal's Message
Another week over, another week of great learning at Falconer's Hill Academy. The cold and miserable weather hasn't stopped us from having fun. The children have enjoyed World Book day and have been talking enthusiastically about reading. We have been treated to an amazing range of costumes and a wide and varied range of reading books. In the morning the children worked collaboratively in their houses. Well done everyone for your participation and thank you Miss Henman for organising this day.

Learning Round-up
Another great week in Maple class. We have been working hard learning our new model text in Talk for writing ‘From The encyclopaedia of nasty creatures’ the children enjoyed creating their own list poems, in maths we have completed our short topic on multiplication and division, in PSHE as class we have set ourselves a new goal to be more active, in science this week we have been looking at classifying. Finally we celebrated world book day by dressing up in our favourite characters from our first loved books and enjoyed some time in our houses doing an assortment of activities.
We’ve had so much fun this week! Especially during World Book Day on Thursday. What a joy it has been to see our year 3’s exploring things with their houses and making connections with other year groups. We have continued thinking about our text - The Tin Forest and children are showing a great understanding of the text. Well done Silver Birch.
Year 4 have started looking at Time in maths this week and have really been persevering - well done everyone! We had lots of fun on World Book Day and we all looked fabulous in our costumes. In Science we enjoyed learning about our solar system and acting out the orbits of the Earth and moon.
Another great week in Sequoia class! We have worked really hard in our assessments and seen lots of improvement which has been fabulous to see. We have been enjoying reading this week, answering retrieval questions about our text ‘The Road Not Taken’ and participating with great enthusiasm in World Book Day!
Another fabulous week this week, I have been so impressed with Willow’s focus particularly in their assessments. We have been enjoying writing some diary entries in geography in the form of explorers of Antarctica. We have also been creating our own poetry based on our current text ‘The road not taken.’ This week we have also enjoyed taking part in World Book Day, the children had some wonderful costumes and had fun sharing their favourite stories.
Another great week in Oak class, in Geography I have been highly impressed by the in depth discussions around what climate change is and the impact that it has on our environment. We have also been focusing on formal language in writing which the children showed great engagement with.
We have had a fantastic week. I have been extremely impressed with the determination Acer have shown in Maths and reading, in preparation for the SATs. They have completed their No More Marking stories based on an image and came up with great ideas. Keep up the hard work!
