Library Cards

How to Get a Library Card:

  1. Print a library card application
  2. Fill it out
  3. Bring the application with your ID to your local library.

If your ID does not show your current address, address verification can be things such as a piece of mail, a checkbook, a rental agreement, property assessment, or similar documents.

Minors under 18: If unable to provide identity and address verification, minors may receive a card with a parent’s or guardian’s verification on their child’s behalf.

Timberland Library Card Services:

  • Check out books, magazines, DVDs, backpacks, and CDs
  • Download eBooks and audiobooks

  • Check the online catalog in the library, from home, office, or school, or by telephone to see what items you have checked out overdue, or on hold and place holds on items
  • Use the TRL Mobile App to search, place holds, and access digital resources
  • Use a library computer with Internet access and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Digital resources and databases. In the library or from home, access hundreds of online newspapers and magazines and dozens of online classes and other resources on health, business, computers, genealogy, car repair, hobbies, and many more topics

Tools in the Library

  • Access Wi-Fi (Daily 6 a.m. to midnight)
  • Computer Use – Walk-up and online reservations available.
  • Print/Scan/Fax – Available in black & white or full color. Receive $44 credit towards these services per month. Credits will not roll over.
  • Reserve a Meeting Room – Rooms are available free of charge for use by individuals, organizations, or community groups.
  • Shelf Checkout Stations Check your items out in an instant with our new checkout stations. Watch Video Basics
  • Remote Printing – Upload your document from anywhere and release your print at any TRL location during library hours. Pages will count towards your monthly credit.

Career Cruising – Interactive career guidance resource with in-depth profiles of careers, colleges, and universities.

Gale General OneFile – Access general interest magazines and key serials in a single resource. Topics include careers, computers and technology, education, health, history, news and current event, personal finance and taxes, self-help/self-improvement.

High School 21 + Helps adults complete a high school diploma (not a GED), get credit for life and job experience, and register for college online programs or in-person classes.

LearningExpress Library – Build skills in math, language arts, and science for elementary, middle school, and high school. Resources for adults to improve math, writing, and grammar. Universal Class – Online learning courses for people interested in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge. There are over 500 courses that you can take at any time without waiting for sessions to start or end. Topics include Accounting, Business, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Web Development, and more. Need to use the library, but your schedule doesn't align with the library open hours? Expanded Access Hours (EAH) is a new daily service from 7 am to 8 pm at selected locations. Including Sundays and regularly closed days. During EAH, Library staff is not on-site, and prior registration is required.

Examples of how it works, Ocean Park opens at 10 am. use EAH for access to the library beginning at 7 am to 10 am before staff arrives. McCleary is closed on Fridays, and EAH allows access to the library from 7 am to 8 pm on regularly closed days. Hoodsport closes at 5 pm, those with EAH can access it until 8 pm.

Who is eligible for EAH?

  • Patrons 18 years or older.
  • Possess a valid/active TRL library card and is good standing.
  • Have read EAH Agreement Form (pdf) and agree to the Patron terms & conditions.

EAH Offers :

  • 7 days per week access, including mornings and evenings hours outside open hours ( 7 am – 8 pm)
  • Access to library materials and resources
  • Self-checkout machines
  • Access to Computers and Wi-Fi
  • Printing / Scanning / Faxing
  • A space to work to serve as an incubator for local entrepreneurs and small business owners.
  • Return items to the inside book drop
