Wudang Daoist Swordsman Michael Xia Chongyi is a recognized 26th generation Wudang Daoist in the Dragon Gate Sect (Longmen Pai). Formally inducted in 2012 into the lineage by Ven. Li Guanfu under Wudang Daoist Master Zhou Xuan Yun of Daoist Gate Wudang Arts, Xia has been dedicated to his master's training methods since 2008. Xia carries over 30 years of full-time martial arts experience in both internal and external styles.
About the Wudang Sword Class
- Each class begins with group warm ups for joint wellness & development
- Followed by drills of primary skills and techniques
- Progression through the Daoist Sword Arts core programs is at your own pace
- Beginner classes use wooden swords that are both available for use and for purchase
- You will get to engage in controlled light contact fencing with your classmates & instructors
- You will learn traditional forms from the Wudang lineage, & how to apply them in a sword fight
- Students will learn body mechanics and alignments that are good for fencing & health
- After only a few classes, you will feel healthier, more energetic, and have a strong foundation.
After learning the foundational skills and the first forms, students will be welcome to test into the Level 2 course. With a basic display of competence, students can progress into the more advanced and intermediate material by extending their class time into the second hour.
