Arlington is set to finance $500 million of the new $1 billion Texas Rangers stadium, with the team covering the rest.
It's more than just a stadium. The development will feature a mixed-use entertainment district situated southwest of Globe Life Park in Arlington and adjacent to the new Rangers ballpark. The first phase of the project, set to open in 2018, will feature restaurants, retail and entertainment venues, along with an event space for up to 5,000 people. A 300-room upscale hotel with 35,000-square-feet of convention space is also expected to open later in 2018.
