News from the Nurses

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for kids!

Did you know that a balanced breakfast that includes protein and carbohydrates from whole grains, fruits and/or vegetables will help your child sustain mental and physical energy until the next meal? When protein is included with breakfast, it helps to rev up the metabolism, keep blood sugar levels steady and give the kids the energy they need. Adding protein to breakfast prevents the mental and physical declines that inevitably come from eating an unbalanced breakfast containing too many carbs. Here are some quick breakfast ideas that you and your children should try:

  • Hard boiled eggs on whole wheat toast
  • Greek yogurt and fruit
  • Quinoa and fruit
  • Oatmeal and peanut butter

SM Field Day

Friday, May 27

Field Day this year will be held on Friday, May 27th. The rain date is scheduled for Wednesday, June 1st. All students will be asked to wear their favorite Springton Manor shirt to Field Day. If a student does not have a Springton Manor shirt, they can wear a maroon shirt or a color similar to maroon (red or pink will be fine).

Volunteers Needed

We are asking for volunteers to help during Field Day. We will need 40 volunteers for the morning session and 40 volunteers for the afternoon session. Volunteers will be helping with one of the activities or traveling with your child’s class as a chaperone and scorekeeper.

Morning Session : Grades K(AM &PM) – 2, 9:00 – 10:45

Afternoon Session : Grades 3 – 5, 1:15 – 3:00

If you are able to volunteer, please see the links below for our Sign Up Genius. Volunteers will need to have background clearances and a volunteer disclosure form filed with the office. If you don’t already have these, here is the link to get them.
