The District Digest The Official Newsletter of Orland School District 135

September 2022!

Welcome Back!

To all new and returning Orland School District 135 families, welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Given the challenges of the past couple of years, the smiles and excitement these first few days of school from students, families, and staff has been exciting to witness. We look forward to seeing everything our students and staff accomplish this year!

Bus Notification System

All families who ride the bus to or from school should download the Traversa Ride 360 Phone Application. Updates to your child’s bus route throughout the year will be communicated through the Ride 360 app. Directions on how to download and sign in to the app can be found on the Transportation website. Notifications regarding late buses will only be sent through this phone application during the school year. Please sign out of the app and log back in in order to refresh the route from last year's data.

Board of Education Seeks New Advisory Members

The Orland School District 135 Board of Education is seeking individuals to serve a 2-year term on one of three Board Advisory Committees. The committees are as follows:

  • Communications, Policy and Personnel
  • Finance and Operations
  • Teaching and Learning and Technology

Each committee, made up of Board members, D135 staff, parents, and community members, is designed to assist the Board in gathering information and feedback from various stakeholders. This valuable input allows the Board to gain an array of perspectives on various topics and assist in their decision-making process. While advisory committees do not vote on District matters, they do provide useful insight to Board members. Applications and more information can be found at www.orland135.org/bac. Applications close on September 4, 2022.

Be The Reason

This year's District-wide theme is "Be The Reason". We want students and staff to be each other's reasons for wanting to come to school each day. Over the summer, some students surprised their past teachers and shared with them why they were their reason for loving school.
