Full Closure of Southbound U.S. 101 (S. Airport Blvd to San Bruno Ave) – Sunday, April 10th: 1am - 6am

Motorists will be directed to exit the freeway in advance of the closed sections, and detour signs will be in place to guide them through city streets until they are able to get back on the freeway. Detour routes have been carefully selected with input from local jurisdictions in an effort to minimize impacts to nearby residents. The map above shows the planned detour route for the overnight closure on Sunday, April 10th.

This closure is needed to install a new overhead sign bridge structure (a structure that spans the width of one side of the freeway, from the shoulder to the median). In order to ensure the safety of the public and construction crews as the new bridge structure is installed, all freeway lanes on southbound U.S. 101 must be closed. Northbound lanes will be unaffected during this closure. Three additional overnight closures will occur in the coming months to install three additional sign bridges. Additional information about these closures will be provided as available.

Last Weekend's Emergency Alert

Some of us were awoken (or if we were still up, were extremely alarmed) around 11pm last Saturday, March 26th, indicating there was a fire on the railway tracks and to not leave our homes; a second Emergency Alert came through at 3am indicating the fire had been extinguished. These two alerts were different from text message/SMS alerts which the City would send in the event of an emergency incident in town. Frankly, it was probably a user mistake to create the alerts as they did, plus not specify the city in which the fire was burning, but in those moments, mistakes like that can and will happen. We encourage you to stay signed up for SMC Alert! If you didn't receive the alert and are wondering why, you may have only opted to receive alerts concerning Brisbane. In SMC Alert, you have the option of selecting a number of cities in which you'd like to receive alerts from. And with many now returning to work, it might make sense to get alerts from the cities in which you live, and work.

SSMC’s Third Annual Virtual Auction will kick off on Wednesday, May 4, and conclude on May 15. Admission to the Awards Celebration is free, but pre-registration is required. Expanded City Hall Hours Starting April

The exception is Parks and Recreation’s Afterschool program to align with the Brisbane School District, transitioned from requiring masks outdoors to strongly recommending them.

With case counts low and hospitalizations even lower, we will be expanding City Hall public walk-in hours to include Wednesday afternoons/evenings. Starting next week, City Hall's public walk-in hours will be: M: 9-4, W: 1-7, Th: 9-4. Staff remains accessible by phone and email; we highly encourage use of our Online Services to keep the community and staff healthy during this time. Masks are still required to be worn at City Hall until further notice. Disposable masks are available if you don't have one. Thank you for your cooperation, and stay healthy!

Curative re-launched their mobile testing clinic at the Park, and will be here on Thursdays, from 10am-4pm. Sign up for appt. Walk-ups are being accepted. You can find more testing sites at smcgov.org/testing. As a reminder, U.S. households are able to place additional orders for free, at-home COVID-19 rapid tests (4 tests per order) at: special.usps.com/testkits.

According to the County Health Department's data dashboards, Brisbane has had 616 confirmed historical cases. Brisbane resident Amrit Lall has been keeping track of the cases released per week, and let us know that Brisbane recorded 5 new COVID-19 cases this past week, 3 more than last week. Note: if you're looking at the Cases by City dashboard, and click on the tab Cases in the last 30 days by city, you won't see Brisbane listed as we have had fewer than 10 days in the last 30 days...a good thing! However, we must keep our guard, and our masks, up in order to truly get through this pandemic.

Earlier this week, the FDA authorized a second booster dose for older (50+) and immunocompromised individuals at least 4 months after receipt of a first booster dose of any authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine. Visit MyTurn.ca.gov or call 833-422-4255 to find a booster near you.

Did You Know?

Have you noticed the new “Simme-seat” at the San Bruno & Mendocino shuttle stop? The Complete Streets Safety Committee chose this stop as one of the 24 stops in Brisbane to have seating, as it received the most usage per Commute.org data (which operates the shuttles). The other stop which will have seating, but in the form of a bench with a small shelter on-order that will be installed later, is located at 140 Valley Drive.

According to a quick poll asking viewers on Instagram whether they liked the look of the Simme-seat, 96% voted Yes!

Commute.org provides several shuttles to and from BART and Caltrain for Brisbane residents and participating Brisbane employers. Brisbane Residents are eligible for a free shuttle pass by showing proof of residency to the Finance Dept. at City Hall.
