Adams Update OCTOBER 7, 2022

Reading is FUNdamental!

Reading is FUNdamental! You've probably seen that expression before. It's true now, more than ever before. Your child should spend some time reading on a regular basis, whatever makes sense for your family. For many of our students, that means reading daily; for others, maybe only 3-5 times per week. Regardless of how often, the extended time of reading, reading a book or a magazine, is critical for your child's academic growth, and there are many other benefits, also. As your children get older, they need to read more to access academic information. Reading also helps our children expand their attention span, allowing them to spend more time focused on important tasks. Finally, reading is FUN! We encourage you to ask your child about what they are reading, the plot, who are the interesting characters, what does the book make them think about, and more. Find a way to make it fun for you and your family!

Next Popcorn Day = Friday, October 21

Our students are looking forward to the next Popcorn Day--it will be Friday, October 21. All proceeds from the popcorn days go to our PTO, which uses the funds to support our classrooms. Fun for all, and help in the classrooms, too--nice!

Sweatshirts, Jackets, and More!

It was definitely cooler outside today, as many students noticed when they were on the playground. This is a good time to check winter coats, gloves, hats, and boots, to make sure that everything fits well and is in good condition. We have several community resources that help us provide winter gear for children that need that assistance--if that would be helpful for your child, please let your teacher know, or reach out to us in the school office.

Robotics - Join the Adams Team!

Adams Elementary 2nd and 3rd grade families: if you would like to participate in our Explore Robotics Program, please let us know! You can learn more about FLL Robotics at their website: https://www.firstlegoleague.org/season. The Explore program is for grades 2-3, and the Challenge program is for grades 4-5. If your child is interested, please fill out the form below and let us know. Teams also need parent mentors--without mentors, there will not be teams (!). If you are interested in mentoring, please note that on the form, as well.

Picture Retakes

Picture Retakes are Monday, November 14 - HR Imaging has a NO QUESTIONS ASKED policy for retakes. If you are not happy with your student's picture, it can be retaken on retake day. Students must bring their original proofing envelope or purchased package and return it to their homeroom teacher to have the retakes.

Repeat - Christmas Closet

Community Christmas Closet, sponsored by the King's Daughters of Midland, provides clothing for students. If you are interested, gift request forms are available in your school office or on the MPS Community and Student Flyer Boards. Completed forms are due to us by October 15.

Spirit wear orders arrived. You may pick up orders in the main lobby.
