Gallery Maurits van de Laar opened its doors at Westeinde 203 in 1991 and was from 1996 onwards located at Herderstraat 6. After 26 years, the gallery moves to a new location at the end of December: Toussaintkade 49 in The Hague, a few houses away from Galerie Ramakers, artist's initiative Quartair and contemporary art centre Stroom Den Haag within walking distance.
At the Herderstraat 239 exhibitions took place, the 240th exhibition MOVING UP focuses on the upcoming relocation and provides an overview of the gallery's artists. These include artists from the very beginning and early years such as Diederik Gerlach, Robine Clignett, Marcel van Eeden, Erik Pape and Dieter Mammel to recent ones like Susanna Inglada, Dan Zhu and Cedric ter Bals. To celebrate the last exhibition at the Herderstraat, a move up discount of 10% applies to all works.

The gallery participates in HOOGTIJ #71 on Friday 25 November 19:00 - 23:00 hours, you can visit 22 locations of contemporary art in the centre of The Hague, from white cube to underground. The new space at Toussaintkade 49 Den Haag opens Sunday January 8th with a duo exhibition of Elmar Trenkwalder’s ceramic sculptures and drawings, and paintings by his wife Elisabeth Trenkwalder. 8 January - 5 February 2023
The Austrian sculptor/ceramist Elmar Trenkwalder (1959) has a major retrospective exhibition in Museum Beelden aan Zee entitled Garden of Earthly Delights from 15 October to 19 March 2023.
