Men's Cross Country Heading Back to NCAA, Morris East Region Champion
After finishing second at the NESCAC Championships a few weeks ago, the Men's Cross Country team raced its way to third place out of 33 competing schools Saturday at the NCAA East Region Championships. The event was hosted on the campus of Bowdoin College.
Tyler Morris led the field from start to finish, outpacing a strong squad from MIT (ranked second in the nation), and leading the way for a stellar outing by the Mules. Five athletes finished in the top-35, earning All-East recognition.

Women's Cross Country Eighth Out of 35 Teams at NCAA Regionals
The Women's Cross Country team competed tightly with the best teams in the East Region, finishing eighth out of 35 competing squads. Colby placed all seven runners inside the top-90, led by Jenna Denaver in 37th place, seconds away from All-East recognition. 245 athletes participated in the event.

Football Falls in Final Quarter to Bowdoin
The Colby Football team traveled to Brunswick Saturday night to face off with the Polar Bears in the 133rd meeting between Colby and Bowdoin. Despite a level first half (tied 14-14 at the break), Bowdoin rode a churning ground game and a penetrating defensive line to its first victory over Colby since 2015 by a score of 21-14.
Bowdoin amassed 180 yards on the ground on 52 carries, only attempting 11 passes throughout the contest. Matt Hersch was 18-33 from the pocket for Colby totaling 163 yards, with a first quarter scoring strike to Jack Sawyer that put the Mules ahead 14-7 at the time. Running back Keon Smart ran for 42 yards on the ground. The sophomore also collected a career-high seven receptions out of the backfield and has moved over 1000 yards from scrimmage (1,040) in his young career.
Linebackers Locksley Burke, Luke D'Aloia, and Marc Dougherty led the way defensively with eight tackles apiece. Dougherty (5th) and D'Aloia (10th) are joined by Julian Young on the NESCAC leaderboard for tackles, with Young sliding in at second with 92 tackles on the season.
The CBB Trophy will remain on Mayflower Hill, as Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin all finished the series with a 1-1 record. The Mules finish the season 4-5 overall, ranked 5th in NESCAC.
Women's Basketball Defeats Rivier, Starts Season 1-0
Colby opened up the 2022-23 season in the Margaret M. Crook Center defeating Rivier University 69-56. Although the Raiders tied the game at 46 heading into the final quarter, the Mules were able to outscore Rivier 23-10 in the fourth to close out the contest. Caroline Smith led the Mules in points (24), rebounds (9), and assists (7), while going 12-13 from the free throw line. The junior now has six 20-point games in her career. Carter McGloon added 15 points.
The Mules are 1-0 to start the season.
Men's Basketball Starts Season 2-0 With Victories in 2022 Spartan Classic
The Mules started their season on the road in Castleton, Vt. with two games in the 2022 Spartan Classic. In the opener, Colby and St. Joseph's College took the contest to extra time, with the Mules pulling ahead in the extra frame for a 99-95 win. First-year Max Poulton led the Mules recording a 21-point performance in his first collegiate game.
In game two, the Mules took on the hosts, upending Castleton State. Leading 42-28 at the half, Colby cruised to a 73-66 win to sweep the weekend. Senior Jonah Obi recorded his second career double-double, tallying 18 points and 11 rebounds. Poulton ended the game with his second double-digit scoring strike to start the season, tallying 11 points.
Colby is off to a 2-0 record to start the season.
