Veneto December 2021

The Veneto region of Italy has a rich and eclectic history that is represented in its unique and exquisite architecture. From the lagoon of Venice to the Dolomite mountains, each place is completely unique to the other, making it a very diverse and interesting travel experience. Winter brings very short days and illuminated nights, especially during the holiday season.

A very short vaporetto ride from Venice is Murano, where some of the most amazing glass is blown and fabricated into colorful and imaginative forms.

Another excursion from Venice is Burano, possibly the most colorful place in the world. The buildings are simple and not really very old, but each one is painted in visually stunning, bright colors to compliment the neighboring structures.

Vicenza is an hour away from Venice en route to Verona. Piazza dei Signori is the heart of the city and a fantastic place to be at twilight during the holidays. The illumination is nothing short of glorious.

Verona is famous for the setting of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, but the city is way more than Casa di Giulietta. The VeronaCard City Pass is a great way to see most of the cultural and historic sites for an unbelievable price.

Vittorio Veneto is a great location for relaxing winter or summer getaway. It's located in the heart of Veneto at the feet of the Dolomite mountains and is about one to two hours from any given destination in the region. It's great to stay there as a base for hiking and skiing excursions.

Cortina d'Ampezzo is an amazing place for skiing and winter sports. In 1956, it hosted the Winter Olympic games and again for 2026. The town is known for attracting the Italian elite and also film directors because of its breathtaking scenery, shops, and chic après-ski scene.

Passo San Pellegrino is a wonderful ski resort in the Dolomites Trentino region. The resort offers a wide variety of slopes for multiple levels of skiers, but also hosts world class competitions. The views are insanely beautiful and a paradise for mountain lovers, all year round.

A foggy day in Padua might seem kind of depressing, but the haze adds a mysterious dimension to Prato della Valle, which is one of the biggest and most beautiful plazas in Europe. The oval shaped canal that's lined with statues creates an island in the heart of the city.
