Mental Health Week - Express Yourself
Today was Express Yourself day and it was great to see the children around school in a variety of colours and outfits. They also spent part of their time in their classes doing mindfulness exercises, art and relaxation. An important message from today even found its way onto the school playground thanks to Isla and Ava.
Tiny Forest - Tree Planting
On Thursday morning, Squirrels and Owls classes joined the ‘Tiny Forest’ project in Monkton Park, helping to plant trees. It was a fantastic opportunity become involved in this project, and to be able to watch it grow over time. Some of the children were even interviewed by BBC Radio Wiltshire! (We think this will be broadcast on Saturday morning.)
Organised by Earthwatch, it is hoped that this resource will be available for the school to use for years to come.
Artist Visit
It was such a pleasure to have the professional artist Sarah Bond visit Monkton Park on Tuesday .Sarah is a landscape painter, working mainly in oils, from her studio in Cumnor Village near Oxford.
She talked to all the key stage 2 classes about her recent artwork 'OUR HOPE FOR THE FUTURE', which was inspired by renewable energy.
Her amazing oil painting was displayed recently at COP26! The children enjoyed hearing all about her work, what inspires her and she also gave them some top tips for their painting.
To find out more about Sarah and her work please visit her website https://www.sarahbondart.com/
Donation requests
Fieldmice and Rabbits are very short of 'junk' for modelling. They would like yoghurt pots, cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, bottle tops etc.
They would also like for artificial flowers & foliage and 'pirate treasure' costume jewellery!
If you are able to donate any of the above, the classes would be really grateful, please bring to the classrooms.
Bikeability Reminder
Year 6 have the chance to take part in Wiltshire Councils Bikeability course in June. Letters with further details have been sent home. Thanks to everyone who have returned their forms and payments.

FOMPS
We would really love to be able to hold our annual Scarecrow Trail and Monkfest again this year however we need your help. We will be meeting at 8pm on Tuesday 15th February. Please click here to access the meeting.
We are looking for volunteers to form a sub committee of 3 to 5 people to help plan the Scarecrow Trail and Monkfest. These two events raise the most money for the school each year and also give the chance for the school and wider community to come together.
If you are able to help in any way please do get in touch on
