ChatGPT Presentation Recap
Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think and act like humans. Including machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision. The use of ChatGPT is free but now there is a $20 fee for uninterrupted searches.
eLearning has set up an AI resource folder in the Faculty Resources course in Blackboard available for all faculty. Dr. Abrego encouraged DEITC members to upload any research they find related to this topic. All faculty are also encouraged to send any information they find useful about AI to the eLearning team to keep all this information handy in one place.
The following topics were discussed. You may find the full presentation at this link: Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ChatGPT in Higher Education.
- AI Tools Used in Education (AIED Field)
- Detection Tools (grammar checkers & writing assistant AI tool)
- AI Generated Text Detectors
- Both Turnitin and Blackboard are currently working on AI detection tools to detect possible AI generated plagiarism.
- ChatGPT Search Engines
- Prompt Engineering
- ChatGPT language models
Dr Abrego will keep the committee updated on AI TAMIU regulations and GPT-4 updates. eLearning will be putting together trainings for faculty that focus on AI detection tools.
Blackboard representatives David Gingrich and Rita Vela visited TAMIU and presented on Blackboard Anthology to the committee. Topics discussed were:
- Blackboard Learning Ultra Adopted Solution
- Plagiarism Detection Anthology offers the largest EdTech ecosystem on a global scale
- Building an infrastructure for what’s next
- Anthology
- The Learn Ultra Roadmap is Heavily driven by Client and User Input
The Blackboard representatives suggested that DEITC committee members and TAMIU faculty submit ideas or ways to improve some of the Blackboard features via “Idea Exchange for Teaching and Learning.” These ideas are looked at by Blackboard's product team, so that these ideas and suggestions can be implemented into Blackboard’s future roadmaps. Sign up for the Idea Exchange.
