It all starts out the same, a stranger coming out to audition for a play. In a room full of other actors one must find ways to stand out amongst the crowd. Will I be chosen? Anxiety is high for days but you receive the call saying "You are the chosen one". Once chosen, the first day of rehearsal is always awkward on a new set. Meeting new people not knowing if you will work well together.
As you start to rehearse you begin to realize that the butterflies you had in the beginning wasn't necessary. Everyone on set is open and willing to help. No matter how many times you stumble over words , forget lines or struggling to get to know your character the help is always there. With no judgement.
You start to build a bond with each and everyone of them. Enjoying laughs so hardy you snort and blush from embarrassment. They become your home away from home.
Jitters setting in and a cast mate sees you. They ask whats wrong and you explain that you're nervous. They give you a big hug and decides that we should pray over our the performance. You have come so far and you wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world.
You will never forget your first show. That feeling will never be replaced. That fire inside you will continue to burn.
