Impact Report for our Loyal Friends January - December 2021

Continuing to fullfil our mission:

To forge partnerships and develop innovative programs to reduce animal shelter admissions and end euthanasia as a form of poulation control.

2021 was a year for us to RECONNECT!

Our newly expanded clinic space became vital as we reengaged with our volunteers, adapted our fundraising events, and as our clientele grew.
Our IHA team also grew, providing us an opportunity to work together to accomplish more surgeries than ever before. What an extraordinary feat!

Performed 12,163 spay/neuter surgeries - our highest annual total yet!
  • 2,587 dog surgeries
  • 9,355 cat surgeries
  • 193 rabbit surgeries
  • Averaged 48 surgeries per day
  • 47% of our surgeries were for pediatric patients that were under 6 months old

Additional services that were provided
  • Administered 17,213 vaccines
  • Inserted 3,007 microchips
  • Applied 4,861 doses of flea/tick preventative
  • Provided 3,571 patients with nail trims

Facilitating unconditional positive regard among animal welfare organizations, to respect each organizational mission, recognize their srengths, and maximaze vital resources.

Committed to broadening our innovative programs to our rescue & shelter partners

Clinic services
  • 43 shelter and rescue partners benefitted from our surgical services
  • 3,674 shelter and rescue animals were spayed/neutered at our clinic
  • 30% of all surgeries performed were for shelter/rescue animals

  • 80 participating animal welfare recipient organization
  • Received 10 semi loads of donated food/supplies to distribute
  • Distributed 253,312 pounds of pet food
  • Distributed 22,185 pounds of litter
Spay/Neuter Transport Van Services
  • Recruited 2 new transport partners
  • Total of 6 transport partners
  • 923 animals transported for spay and nueter services

  • 230 pets were examined and received services
  • 328 vaccines were provided
  • 81 pets were spayed or neutered

Painting a Brighter Future Together Campaign

Our goal is to raise one million dollars by December of 2022, enabling us to expand every aspect of our organization in order to continue to meet the needs of our community.

Phase I raised $450,000 to expand our clinic.
Phase II raised $250,000 to amplify our impact by expanding our life-saving programs to save more lives.
  • Upgraded and purchased additional surgical equipment to increase our surgical capacity.
  • Increased our commitment to pet owners living in under-resourced neighborhoods.
  • Reduced barriers for community cat caretakers.
  • Increased the number of traps in our trap library.
  • Purchased a new transport van to serve more remote locations.
  • Installed new equipment to implement wellness services for our rescue and shelter partners.
  • Remodeled old office space to create new exam rooms.
  • Upgraded our lighting to be more energy efficient.
  • Purchased and installed a generator.
Happening Now! Goal of $300,000.

Guaranteeing sustainability to secure a future for Iowa Humane Alliance, the animals we serve, and the people who care for them.

  • Reviewing IHA's financial statement.
  • Diversifying IHA's investment portfolio.
