Boí Taüll & Cardona December 2022

Boí Taüll Resort is one of the highest in the Pyrenees Mountains. Despite the scarcity of snow in Europe during the start of winter 2022, Boí Taüll accumulated a 100cm base in late December. The views from the highest point of Puig Falcó at 2,751m are simply spectacular.

Balcó del Cerví, the second highest peak at 2,530m, is accessible by a single chair lift. From the top, there is an excellent variety of ski runs with fantastic views.

Pic de la Pala Ginebrell at 2,310m has probably the best views of the resort and the valley below on two sides. Skiing is excellent with really nice groomed intermediate runs that are great for carving.

Pla de l'Ermita is a small ski village that supports the resort with hotels, restaurants, and shops and also offers summer recreation too. It's just about a 15-minute drive to Boí Taüll Resort.

Back to Barcelona is just about a four-hour drive and there are amazing places to stop along the way. Cardona is a fantastic place to visit with its incredible castle which is now a Parador hotel and just down the road is one of the most incredible geologic wonders, the Parc Cultural de la Muntanya de Sal.

Salt Mountain and the mines in Cardona are a must see. Parc Cultural de la Muntanya de Sal is a phenomenal geological masterpiece millions of years in the making. Despite the tour being just a small portion of the site, it is truly a fantastic experience. The mine was a source of three different types of salt for culinary and medical use, as well as for explosives.
