Materials:
- About 300 popsicle sticks
- 2 small bottles of Elmer's glue
- 3 or 4 empty water bottles
- 3 rubber band
- Old newspapers
Steps to building your bridge:
- Set down a layer of old newspaper so it covers your whole table or wherever your building your bridge.
- Before you start working you need to decide how long you want your bridge. It doesn't really matter, but I do recommend around a 30 inch bridge.
- After you have done that, you need to lay down 8 popsicles sticks in a straight line or how ever many you want.
- Then, you put another one on top,in the middle where the ends meet, and you glue it, let it dry, and repeat until you have a long stick figure.
- Repeat steps 1 through 4 until you have 4 long sticks all the same length. These will be used for 2 for the top on both sides and 2 for the bottom on both sides.
- After you have completed that, then you lay the long stick on its side and you put the bottom one the same way but just lay it about four inches down.
- Once you have that finished, you need to glue on some popsicle sticks going from the top to the bottom. Make sure they are slanted to the left. They should be about an inch apart.
- Repeat steps 1 through 7 to create your other side but make sure the popsicle sticks are to the right and are 1 inch apart and all you have to do is flip it over.
- Now, put the two sides standing up together by putting about 3 rubber bands so they are flat together.
- Spread them apart and put the empty water bottles in between the rubber bands to spread the bridge.
- Then you cross two popsicle sticks so they look like X's and you do that until you have a line of X's that go all the way across the top and you glue them. You do the same for the bottom until dry. Once they are dry, you take the water bottles and rubber bands out and glue the empty leftover spots with X's.
That is your lattice popsicle bridge!
