What is a Godly Home
- A home that loves God, where the people live as a family either by relation through marriage, birth, adoption, or friendship and are committed to Jesus Christ, and faithfully witnessing to the love, power, and forgiveness of God to a watching world.
- "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." - Psalms 127:1
- "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” - Colossians 3:16 - 17
Things that unite the family
- Godly Home - Christ centered, submission, love, obedience, nurturing, order, gracious, serving one another,
- Words and Acts of Affirmation - Showing love, being appreciative of each other, gratitude, praise
- Cheerfulness - joyful, fun activities, positive attitude
- Spending time - more time, quality time
- Friendship - using emotional intelligence to relate with each other as one would do to keep a friendship
- Honoring parents - Ephesian 6:1
- Seeking advise - reading, counsel (bot professional and spiritual)
Things that can break a family
- Covetousness - Exodus 20:17 - comparing family members to others, not satisfied with each other, unmet expectations
- Conflicts - Misunderstanding, arguments, not acknowledging personality differences, lack of respect for each other, enmity
- Financial Issues - stable employment, spending habits
- Lack of transparency - keeping secrets, fear of telling the truth
- Lack of trust - failed or empty promises, lies, disappointment
- Complacency - taking each other for granted
- Not spending time - the quality of time or the quantity of time or both
