Sports Medicine

In the next 2 weeks for level 1 students, they will begin the cardiovascular system and the process our body uses to keep us alive and healthy. They will be testing their cardiovascular capacity through exercise and show the importance of cardiovascular adaptation through sports. Learning how our heart filters oxygen and blood.

While level 2 students will begin working on the upper extremity injuries like the arm and elbow and how to properly take care of those injuries. This involves critical points like the elbow, and hand. We will also discuss the importance of having a thumb and how evolution allowed for us to be different.

Digital media

Digital Media students have been enrolled in SkillsUSA and are beginning to take part in leadership training. This training culminates with an assessment that will provide them with a leadership certification from SkillsUSA. Digital Media students finished their photo stories. Check them out here.

Entrepreneurship

Now that we are back entrepreneurship has a very busy semester ahead of them. The next couple weeks they will be working on career preparation activities for both year 1 and year 2 classes. They are also working on resumes, cover letters, job aptitude research and career assistance/research, interview prep, and mock interviews. Then they have some Skills USA lessons that they will be reviewing as well as beginning to prep for our San Jacinto accredited tests. Here students may be eligible to receive Mt San Jacinto College credits for this CTE class. There is lots to do this semester!

Carpentry

Carpentry has a very busy next few weeks. In the next few weeks Carpentry will have a Night with Industry on February 17th where the students will learn how to make resumes. The students will meet with these industry professionals and attempt to get jobs. The Carpentry class will also be working with Local 951 in order to prepare for the Design Build Competition on March 22-23. Local 951 will be helping plan and set up the students in order for them to succeed in the competition. The students will start meeting with Local 951 every Saturday starting February 11th on until March in order to learn more. Everyone in the competition has to complete the OSHA 10 courses with in the next week.

Helaina is always on task and not afraid to take leadership and share her unique experiences in athletics.

Reanna Ventura

Reanna is currently a teachers assistant and had been in the construction class for 3 years. She is taking on the roll of Construction Manager for the Design Build competition that we will be doing in March. Reanna is a senior and will be graduating this year!

Elizabeth Schmitz

Elizabeth is in Mr. Wells third period class. She is always contributing in class, full of ideas, very social, always positive and willing to help answer or provide information on the topics being discussed. She usually goes above and beyond in her work. She has big plans and big ideas which is what you want to see from your entrepreneurial students. She wants to be more active in school clubs and activities.

Isaac Montes

Isaac is an outstanding student and is constantly looking to grow and improve his skills in digital media. Isaac's dedication to the digital media field is commendable and he is a great example of a career and technical education student.
