Smith Hall, formerly known as 150 Tremont Street, was the first residence hall at Suffolk University.

Smith Hall has an unbeatable location in downtown Boston across the street from the historic Boston Common.

Approximately 40 percent of incoming students will be assigned to the Smith Hall.

In addition to being Suffolk's first residence hall, it is also the University's largest with over 300 students housed.

Smith Hall occupies a space that originally was two buildings.

The structure at 150 was built in 1903 for the Oliver Ditson Company, the oldest musical publisher in the United States. The building at 148 was erected in 1912 and is a fine representation of a Second Renaissance Revival period "Palazzo Skyscraper.

The buildings were combined as part of a major renovation in the 1980s; Suffolk acquired the property in 1996.

Situated in the middle of an urban environment, Smith Hall is the ideal dorm for city-faring students.

Suites, which is a grouping of double and single rooms around a furnished commons living space, are single-sex and include double and single rooms, and a shared lounge and bathroom, which are used and maintained by the suite members.

There are no kitchens in any of the suites.

About 65 percent of the rooms in Smith Hall are for two people (doubles).

Single rooms, which are priced at a higher rate, are available to new students on a very limited basis.

The triples (three students) and quads (four students) are the largest rooms in Smith Hall, and typically house new students.

Most rooms in Smith Hall are on the corridor. This is the "traditional" style of a residence hall.

Students who live in corridor rooms share two floor bathrooms - one for men, one for women.

Between numerous public transportation stops and adjacent to the Boston Common and Downtown Crossing, Smith Hall puts you right in the middle of the action.
