If you want to keep me healthy and happy, I’ve got a few suggestions… (scroll for the rest of the story!)

MERCEDES-EQ Battery Use & Care Suggestions

Opt for AC Charging.

While I certainly accept DC fast charging, I prefer the relatively slower pace of a Level 2 AC charger. It’s just easier on my lithium-ion body and keeps me happy!

Target an 80% state of charge.

You may have heard this already, but much like a cup of your preferred beverage, I too prefer to be filled up to a reasonably full level on a day-in, day-out basis. For me, that’s around 80%, please and thank you.

If you’re going to leave me, at least keep me at 30—50%.

I get it, we’ve all got places to go. So, when you need your space, may I ask that you try to keep me in the 30 to 50% state of charge? It’ll keep me happy until we meet again. Thanks to Mercedes me connect, monitoring my charge level is so easy!

In general, keep me above 20% charge

I know, I did mention I like to fast every six months or so, but in general, this Mercedes-EQ likes to stay comfortable. For me, that’s anywhere between a 20% and 80% state of charge. Fortunately, with my considerable range, making this happen during daily driving is an absolute snap!

Send me to bed hungry twice a year (but only when the weather’s nice).

I know, it sounds weird but…every six months, when the outside temperature is above 50 °F (10 °C), park me overnight at a state of charge below 20%! Sort of like fasting, this maximizes my resiliency and desire to stay charged!

And finally, please DO NOT disconnect my 12v battery!

I had to get this off my chest: Even if you DO need to leave me for a long time, please keep the good old-fashioned 12V battery connected to me! Otherwise, you won’t be able to monitor my state of charge with Mercedes me connect!
