Career Action Plan For Graphic Design Logan May
Graphic designers, as the name implies, create graphics. These can be for both commercial or promotional need, and there's many important aspects to the career. They need to sketch concepts and communicate with their clients to get a good idea of what the client is looking for, and use a variety of mediums in order to create a final product. The medium ground of pay for a graphic designer is around $50,710, while the lower end is $31,310 and the higher end is $98,260. They need technical and communication skills, and need to be detail oriented.
I believe this career would fit me fairly well, since I've had a bit of experience in it already . enjoy thinking of and sketching out new designs, then applying those to a final product, like a logo I would be making. I'm also fairly detail oriented, looking out for patterns that could be off or odd spots in what I'm making.
There's plenty of job openings available in NC. Some recent ones include Creative Circle, looking for a freelance designer to make advertisements. Robert Half is looking for a long time contractor. Carimus is looking for a full time graphic designer to complete requests for clients. Creative Circle is entirely remote, so that is an option for graphic designers. This is similar to job listings in other states, such as Slumberkins in Washington, who want a freelance artist to design all their social media profiles. There's also plenty of full time jobs available there as well.
There's a few important SMART goals that I can take as steps to become a graphic designer. First, I could try to gain a bit more experience working on some personal projects before going to college, and taking more graphic design classes. I could get a degree in graphic design in college, since many job listings favor people with education in the career. Finding an entry level job and gaining experience to either get a higher level full time job or becoming a freelance artist would probably be my next step from there.
