MTC History
In 2006 Carolyn Daniels and Donna Egan ran the first "Musical Theater Camp" or "MTC" at Mountain Mist Day Camp, producing the show "The Wizard of Oz." Fun fact: Dorothy (Cessa Fontanez), is back 16 years later as our Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda!
When the Meriden Youth Theatre joined with the YMCA in 2008, the summer camp offerings expanded to 3 sessions, with shows open to students in grades 2-12. As the program grew, sessions became specialized for different age groups. More than just a theater camp, MTC is an educational theater program - with a focus on performance skills and community building. Matilda is the 49th MTC musical and the first time MTC has performed 4 musicals in a single summer!

Director's Note
Teamwork makes the dream work, and that has never been more evident than in our current production of Matilda! Not only does this musical have the staff doing their regular duties of directing, choreographing and and teaching music, but it has the staff on the stage PERFORMING! What better way to get to know our younger performers, than to be right alongside them celebrating the hard work and dedication it takes to produce a full length musical in two short weeks! It has been a magical experience. From the first day at auditions, to this weekend’s performances, the cast and crew has shown their commitment, dedication and passion to the show and to each other. I could not be more excited for our Rising Stars, Junior, and Teen Company as they all dance together on this journey we call musical theater. As well, I could not be more proud of our adults performing tonight. All MYT alum, they continually share their passion for educating children using musical theater as their tool. Cessa, Joe, JT, Lindsay and Nich, it has been, and continues to be the most wonderful experience watching you all do what you love and love what you do!
A special shout out to our newest staff member Rachel for the awesome costuming!!!
The staff is thankful and grateful for all our families who have shared their performers with us, and do so much to make sure every performance is a success. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Welcome to the MYT family! ~Carolyn Daniels
