2016 Stony Brook Women's Soccer Year in review

The Seawolves picked up their first win of the 2016 season on the road on at Fairfield. Sophomore Julie Johnstonbaugh helped spark the 2-0 victory with a goal and an assist in the game.

Stony Brook made it back-to-back wins at home when it shut out Wagner on September 18, 2016. Junior Manuela Corcho sparked the offense with two goals in victory at LaValle.

The first America East game of the 2016 season proved to be a catalyst for the Seawolves has they shutout Binghamton at LaValle, 3-0. Six different players earned a point in the team's fourth shutout of the year.

In September, the Seawolves joined forces with Team Impact and welcomed Rylie to the squad. The team has since made an incredible bond as they spend time at the field and away from it. While Rylie cheered the team on from the sideline or when watching the road games from home, the Seawolves also supported her at her games throughout the semester. Here is a look back at the start of a special bond.

The Seawolves went on to string together six straight wins through conference play, including five straight at home. They outscored their opponent 12-2 in the final six home games, tallying eight shutouts by season's end. The impressive play earned Stony Brook a spot in the America East playoffs for the first time since 2013, entering as the No. 3 seed and playing at home in the opening round.

Stony Brook honored the 2016 Senior Class prior to the final regular season game against Hartford.

Coaching Staff Honored, Six Seawolves Earn All-Conference Accolades

The Seawolves Wrap Up 2016 With Team Banquet

Senior Raven Edwards finished her Stony Brook career as the all-time leading scorer in the program's Division I history with 24 goals. She also holds the Division I era record for points with 56. She led the Seawolves in her final season with seven goals and 17 points.

Amy Thompson earned the team's Goal of the Year award as well as co-Player of the Year. She finished the season second on the team in scoring (5) and assists (4), scoring three game-winners.

Julie Johnstonbaugh was named the team's Most Improved Player, more than doubling her production in nearly the same minutes, earning a starting spot in her second season.

Priscilla Wiggins helped captain the Seawolves in her final season. She was named Seawolf of the Year and co-Player of the Year. She helped the Seawolves to eight shutouts this season, while adding four assists.
