Background

Malcolm X was first named Malcolm Little, and was born on May 19, 1925. Malcolm's father, Earl Little, was a Civil Rights activist. Malcolm's family was constantly on the go because the Black Region was after his father for being a activist. Their house was then burned down, and Earl Little was killed two years later. These evens we passes by the court as an "accident". Malcolm's mother was then sent to an institution that takes care of crazy people, and Malcome and his siblings were split up into foster homes. Years later Malcolm was charged with burglary and was sent to jail for 10 years. After he got out of jail he studied at the NOI leader Elijah Muhammad. Malcome then changed his last name to "X", which is a tribal name. This is because Little was a slave name, and he didn't want the slave name to be known as part of a slave family. (Jay L.A. Studio)

Involvement

Malcolm X was one a major African American leader of the Civil Rights Movement. There had been two major different ways people had protested. The way Malcolm X and his African American followers protested was with self defense, if they needed to protect themselves against the white men they would (J.J and David ). Martin Luther King Jr. Also had his own followers and their way was to keep peace and not to fight back, but to simply protest in peace ( J.J and David). "I do not even call it violence when it is self defense; I call it intelegence" (Malcolm X). Since Malcolm X was Islam and black he got automatically put into the middle of the movement because of how he saw the world and its problems (J.J. And David). Malcolm X was a movement speech end and was very inspirational during this movement. Malcolm X changed the view of the Civil Rights Movement by his motivation to be equal humans. "I am for violence if nonviolence means we continue postponing a solution to the American Black Men problem just to avoid violence"(Malcolm X). Malcolm X main focuse wasn't just on the United States, but he wanted all black people around the world to have human rights.
