May Day Celebrations

May Day 2022

Saturday May 7th 2pm

We are now counting down till we celebrate May Day with you all. If you haven't already, please complete this attendance form: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=3ibUqSrEC0eCH34TQVmnopyFky9bPLZKoUhH_IFIyQVUREJUWkMzSzBVU09MU1VUM0VaNEE3MTVWRC4u. We need to know which children will be attending so Mrs J can prepare for the dances. As mentioned, FOIS are always in need of a few helpers, please contact them at: Fois@ishamprimary.org.uk.

Communication has been sent on what your child can wear for the day, if you haven't seen it then please read: "EYFS and Year 1 and Year 2 Girls - flower girls (do not need to co-ordinate) > dress and basket/small bag for the petals, Year 2 Boys - soldiers - smart wear (this can include chinos, shorts, jeans, polo shirt, t-shirt, shirt) and school will provide a sash for them to wear, EYFS and Year 1 Boys - smart wear (this can include chinos, shorts, jeans, polo shirt, t-shirt, shirt), KS2 children - girls can wear dresses or skirts/top or playsuit and boys can wear chinos, shorts, jeans, polo shirt, t-shirt, shirt."

Every girl in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 will be a flower girl. There is no pressure to co-ordinate dresses. We ask that the flower girls just wear their finery. Please could the flower girls have either a basket or a small drawstring bag (that goes on the wrist). Mrs J is on the case to collect and provide petals for the flower girls to throw! The Year 2 boys will be soldiers which means they are to wear a smart shirt and trousers - school have the sashes for the boys to wear.

Next week we will be setting up chairs the day before Gala Day so please let us know if you have an elderly relative who will need a chair reserving for them. Please communicate this to Sophie in the office at: admin@ishamprimary.org.uk

The Kettering and District Yr 3/4 Quicksticks Hockey competition was finally concluded this week after the original event was unable to finish due to monsoon conditions! Rothwell Juniors, Brambleside and Isham played each other to decide which two would qualify for the County Finals. After a hard-fought contest, all three teams finished level on points, with each match ending in a draw! The final results were decided on goals scored with Isham scoring 3 overall, Rothwell 2 and Brambleside 1. Isham and Rothwell will now represent Kettering District at the County Finals at Moulton College in July!

I am so proud of our children, and the way they handled themselves under the pressure. I received a congratulatory email this morning from our School Sports Partnership manager, he commented that we definitely deserved to win over the two events, and that we had "some lovely players".

My congratulations and thanks for excellent sportsmanship and hard work goes to Callum, Edward, Adam, Ava, Jasmin and Olivia, my hockey superstars!

EYFS - Trip to Stoke Bruerne

Reception loved their trip to Stoke Bruerne on Monday. We had a boat trip (on Charlie) to the mouth of the Blisworth tunnel, which was very dark and spooky. We saw swans and moorhends, lambs and baby rabbits in the fields. All of the people there were very friendly - we sat by a lock to have our lunch and watched as the boats went through it (we did a lot!). We enjoyed the museum and gift shop - and everyone's behaviour was absolutely superb - Rosie and Jim were very proud to be with us!

Photos to follow next week due to technical glitch!!!

FRIDAY 6TH MAY - MUFTI

Chocolate and cake mufti day - Friday 6th May

A chocolate / cake mufti day will take place on Friday 6th May – these items will then be used on our stalls. We will be asking EYFS and KS1 to provide cakes for the cake stall and KS2 to provide chocolate multi packs for the chocolate tombola in exchange for wearing home clothes. These can be brought in on Friday 6th May. Thank you!

Reflection Time

On Tuesday, Reverend Denise visited the children for collective worship. This term we are looking at our school value of respect. The children explained that from this assembly that it's important to treat others how you would like be treated. They also linked this to treating people in and out of school with respect.
