Week 5 - term 2b

We started the week with a visit of one of our school dogs, unfortunately Frankie was otherwise engaged but Willow came in and made herself at home during our English lesson.

This week we have been working on writing a setting description which includes personification. We have spent lots of time looking at personification and we have looked at lots of examples.

Our reading sessions this week were based on this beautiful book. It’s called Shackleton’s Journey and it tells the tale of a group of 20th century Antarctic explorers who were faced with many challenges but lived to tell the tale.

A rash had written her own piece of music at home based on the work she’s done in Music with Mrs Butler. She played her beautiful tune for the class.

We did yoga this week. We are really enjoying the Cosmic Yoga sessions on YouTube.

We combed our census and map work this week and found out a lot about residents of Benwell from days gone by. We needed to complete this work by Wednesday as we were going to visit the graveyard to see where these people were buried.

We analysed a pie chart of the types of home which are in our school’s postcode. We discovered the majority of homes wee terraced homes.

We listened to a lot of different musical styles in Music with Mrs Butler.

We also took part in an e-safety talk on Wednesday. We found out mor about staying safe on apps like Discord and Snapchat.

On Wednesday we walked along to St. James Church to complete their graveyard challenge. We spent an hour answering questions from a booklet the church had produced.

Our Handball skills are improving in PE.

Brrrrrr! After a week of wonderful weather, the temperature dropped and we had some snow.

Well done Riley for being Star of the Week.
