How much sugar? Community action project Escola les acÀcies

Who we are and what we are doing

The issue we decided to address is the quantity of sugar that some snacks have because the children in our school are not aware of it and they eat a lot of them.

Our Community Action goal is to raise awareness about the problem doing different activities around the school.

We think this is a good action for our community because a lot of children in our school consume a lot of sugar and they do not know it.

The impact we hope it will have is that people in the school change some habits.

We organized ourselves into groups to explain our project throughout the Acacies school.

We visited all the classrooms and the students were very interested in our project.

We asked them to bring packages of cookies, cereals, drinks that they eat for breakfast or as a snack.

We have explained to all the students of the school that we have placed several containers and they can leave the recipients there so that they can be picked up and analyzed.

We calculated the sugar that the snacks have and pass it to sugar cubes

Later, we made murals with the data we had obtained

We did surveys about eating habits. All the students from primary in our school answered it.
