Government Funded Gyms

The government should fund basic gyms for the public to use. This will allow the less economically stable people be able to work out and get fit. These gyms will contain very basic equipment such as a bench press, dumbbells, squat racks, pull-up bars, and maybe simple cable machines. This simple equipment will keep the price of the gyms down but still have enough for people to be able to workout.

The main people in opposition to creating a government funded gym would be taxpayers, the government, and gym owners. Although it is true that this may raise taxes a little overall there are steps that can be taken so that the difference is not too big. For example the gyms will be very basic to reduce tax costs, and in being this simple it will not steal a great deal of members from big gyms.

Working out and exercising can also benefit a person physically and emotionally. It has been proven to increase a person's mood and make them feel more fulfilled. It is a way that people can give up horrible habits such as alcohol or drugs. Also, has been proven to help decrease depression.

Many teenagers have gyms at their high schools where they may be able to workout, but they will be unsupervised and will be at greater risk of injury. Instead of waking up with pain and ending up in a doctor's office, they should be in a supervised area where they can exercise correctly. A public gym where teenagers can afford and be able to workout will be a place where others can help and give guidance on how to do things.

It is good for children or, at least, early adolescents to begin to exercise and develop good habits. Working out can be a way for a young person to develop good habits before they develop bad ones, such as watching a lot of TV, playing a lot of video games, or worse drinking or drugs. This allows them to get on the right track early and not have to break previous habits and try to do right later in life.
