Institute Activities
+CityxChange
From November 10-11 we held a consortium meeting in Písek, Czechia to plan for the final year of the project. It was a great opportunity to catch up and in some cases meet for the first time in person! We were able to discuss joint challenges and achievements, as well as future steps for the project. A huge thank you to our wonderful hosts in Písek for sharing their beautiful city with us. Feeling refreshed and looking forward to the last year! Keep up with +CityxChange by following us on social media
VARCITIES
Kicking off its third year, VARCITIES pilots are now entering the implementation phase of its visionary solutions. In November and in the coming weeks, each Pilot City is organising a Town Hall Event to present the progress made and the following steps to its citizens and local stakeholders. Discover more about each Pilot event in the News section. Moreover, VARCITIES is not just about developing NBS pilots! Partners build research and knowledge to contribute to the advanced development of NbS in Europe and beyond. You can find public Deliverables in the new Resources section.
JUSTNature
On 17th November 2022, the JUSTNature project joined the Clustering Event “Nature-based solutions for a just transition”, a highly productive online encounter organised by Crowdhelix with more than 60 participants from consortium partners in three EU projects: JUSTNature, UPSURGE project & DivAirCityH2020. The event aimed to exchange knowledge and build synergies between the research teams among sister projects. The next call will be launched in January 2023 and include 250 cities to connect universities and research teams with municipalities. Stay tuned for the next call on our social media channels.
Capacity-Building Program Sustainable Urban Planning and Development
Training on Sustainable Urban Planning and Development
We are building a new training program resulting from collaboration initiatives between our partners in South-East Asia and the Institute. This new program includes a series of 3 modules targeting professionals working in city-making disciplines – mainly in ASEAN countries. The overall goal is to deepen the capacity of city-makers, improving decision-making and the implementation of projects at local, regional and national levels.
The training will focus on three primary themes (Urban Governance, Urban Environment, and Strategic Planning), zooming in on the ASEAN context.
Materials for the program consist of case studies and best practices, videos, further readings and references to other interactive media. In addition to the overall themes, current global planning concepts and approaches are covered. These topics will be complemented with viable approaches and tools, such as vision building, action planning, monitoring and assessment approaches, and digital tools to tackle the question of what is suitable planning and which elements have to be considered in various contexts.
Every urban professional with high-level expertise and teaching experience within the three topics is invited to apply. Please check the application link.
