DESIGN FOR BODIES
Social Media
Social media is a new addition to our society that not only benefits individuals but also negatively impacts them. I think it is important that individuals are mindful and well-informed on the drawbacks that social media can have on them. Not only physically, but mentally.
Becoming informed on the risks of social media is a great way to be proactive. Below, I have provided a video that showcases the negative impacts of social media.
"...Multiple studies have found a strong link between heavy social media and an increased risk for depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-harm, and even suicidal thoughts" - Helpguide.org
As mentioned social media can be negative but it also can be a tool. It's important to stay informed and to implement suggestions to avoid the negative drawbacks of social media. An example that can be implemented, would be to limit your social media use, do detoxes from social media, and approach social media mindfully. A specific potential app that could be created to combat social media indulgence would be a timer app to limit your use.

Privacy within the community/homes
As previously mentioned in my project 2, privacy within communities and homes is being breached every day without your knowledge. Everyday household items such as modems, phones, webcams, thermostats, and kitchen appliances have the ability to invade your home and space.
Above I've provided a video explaining different devices that could potentially be spying on you.
"Not only have you likely given away a lot of your privacy rights through downloading apps, if you have location services activated your phone knows where you live, work and play without entering any information." - abc.net
Solution?
A solution to this would be to be more mindful of potential tracking devices. Another solution would to be wary of potential technologies one is using. A specific implementation would be for companies to install better hardware to avoid data breaches. Another implementation would be if social media didn't take your data unknowingly.
Design for Earth
"In 2019, the global share of e-waste documented to be collected and properly recycled was just 17.4 percent." - Statistica.com
Below is a graph showing the top ten countries that generate the most e-waste. The United States is number 2.
To be able to solve this issue, individuals should be mindful of their waste production. Instead of buying new tech they can fix it or recycle it for another purpose. As for implementation, the government should be more a part of the reduction of E-Waste. There must be laws or rules implemented to recycle these products and make them more efficient instead of turning them into waste.
