Our program offers extensive training in acting, character development, script analysis, and stage movement, culminating in live performances in front of an audience. Participants will engage in all aspects of theatre (including but not limited to acting, stage management, set design, etc.), props, costumes, hair/make-up, etc. Students will gain a deeper understanding of critical thinking, reading comprehension, public speaking, teamwork; spatial awareness, and professionalism. We also offer internships for the students to work at the summer arts camp. We have had great success with our summer programs in the past, and we are looking to build on that success with our summer theatre training and acting program. We are reaching out to summer camp programs to invite them to view the production as a field trip, and we hope to present the play to several hundred young summer campers.
The Summer Theatre Arts Conservatory at Florida Memorial University in the Lou Rawls Center Herman LeVern Jones' Theatre South for the is funded in party by The Children’s Trust. The Children's Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
