Mayor Jorge Elorza believes that the greatest investment that Providence can make is in the future of our children. Our students feel that the condition of their schools is a direct reflection of how we value them. We need school facilities that inspire our students to learn, are responsive to their needs, and prepare them to compete in a 21st century workforce. We want to ensure our classrooms foster the development of critical skills such as collaboration, innovation and communication.

Recap: Revising PPSD’s Capital Plan
The City of Providence conducted a yearlong engagement process through community conversations regarding educational investments through the annual All In Education Summit. Using public feedback, we have formulated the most ambitious five-year school capital plan that RIDE has ever approved for $278M. Additionally, Mayor Elorza has made the bold commitment to invest over $400M in our schools over the next decade after years of deferred maintenance. PPSD realigned their capital plan with the Turnaround Action Plan, with a heavy emphasis on new facility construction and student-centric enhancements with student learning in mind.
