We started our workshop with a bang. For our first shoot at the Wild Goose Island we had a perfect arching rainbow across St Mary's Lake. Throughout the next few days we had plenty of stormy weather and clouds to add drama to our landscapes.
At Sunrift Gorge we worked on slow motion landscapes with ND filters. The road across Logan Pass was closed due to large snow berms up high. This meant the Going to the Sun Road was almost empty and we often had prime photographing areas to ourselves.
The wildflowers were abundant this year. With such a late spring, the flowers were prime at lower altitudes. We worked with diffusers to capture individual flowers and photographed entire hillsides of vibrant color.
We reached Two Medicine Lake in time for a subtle sunrise on Mt Sinopah. By using multiple exposures we flattened the water and created a tranquil effect.
Mid-morning at Sun Point
During the evening hours we photographed wildlife in the Many Glacier Area. A cinnamon colored black bear showed up multiple times, pacing the wildflower meadows for edible sedges.
On Saturday afternoon we drove to Browning, Montana for the annual North American Indian Days hosted by the Blackfeet Nation.
Native Americans from both the United States and Canada attended the gathering. They graciously posed for portraits before going into the main tent to dance.
Thanks to all of our participants on the Glacier 2022 Workshop. What a great time to be in Montana!
