HARVEST THANK YOU
We'd like to say a very big thank you to everyone for all of the generous donations to our harvest collection for the local food bank. The items will be taken to Two Rivers next week. Children across the school took part in assemblies, displaying what they had learned about harvest time through poems and songs, and sharing what makes them thankful.

SPORTING SUCCESS
Children from year 3, 4, 5 & 6 have done a fantastic job of representing Parkside at the cross country events, showing excellent team spirit and positive attitudes. We are very proud of all of them. Skye from Year 3 came first in their event, beating other competitors from both year 3 & 4 to go through to the next round, which will be taking place in Cottingham. Rio and Riley came second and third which means the whole boys' team have also qualified for the next round. Huge congratulations!
The Year 6 boys also did an excellent job of representing Parkside at the football event at Delta this week. They showed real team spirit and we are really proud of them.

MINI MARATHON
Children across the school have been taking part in the Mini London Marathon. All of the children did an awesome job of trying to run 2.6 miles - 5 laps of our school field! Some children managed to do it all in one go.

NSPCC PANTS
In our school assemblies and PSHE this term, we will be discussing the NSPCC’s Underwear Rule. This is designed to teach pupils how to stay safe from sexual abuse, without giving explicit information or telling scary stories or even using the term “sexual abuse.” In the lesson, children will learn about the ‘PANTS’ acrostic, which stands for:
- Privates are private
- Always remember your body belongs to you
- No means no
- Talk about secrets that upset you
- Speak up, someone can help
The lesson will be delivered in a way that’s fully age-appropriate.
More information about the Underwear Rule, including a short film and a parent guide can be found at nspcc.org.uk/underwearrule.

ARRIVING BY BIKE OR SCOOTER?
We have heard concerns about the speed children at which children are cycling on pavements. We will be giving reminders about this in school but please could this also be discussed with your child at home. We are also concerned that some children are coming to school without helmets, putting themselves at risk.
We are aware that the number of children trying to enter school through Gate 2 (the small pedestrian gate) with bikes and scooters is causing some congestion issues. For everyone's safety, please can all Key Stage 2 pupils with bikes and scooters come in through the double gates (gate 3).

TIMINGS
Please note that now everyone is back in the school routine we will be reverting back to the gates opening at 3.25pm.
We are also aware that many children are arriving to school too early and are gathering at the gates which is causing an obstruction on the pavement. For safety we cannot open the gates any earlier than 8.40am as at this time cars are still moving on the site. Please can we remind parents that registers are not taken until 8.55am which is the time the children need to be in class for.

SURVEY REQUEST FORM EAST RIDING YOUTH PARLIAMENT
Further to extensive conversations with various council departments regarding the improvement of Logon-moveon and apprenticeship awareness, the East Riding Youth Parliament Members have composed a survey in order to gauge the necessary research for any advancement with the council on the topic.
It is a short, yet effective way of finding out the needs of young people, and provide evidence to council departments regarding the need to develop an app, or not.
