HAINES ALASKA GATEWAY TO GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK

TAKING OFF FROM HAINES, ALASKA AIRPORT IN EARLY MAY 2015 AT 5:00 PM WITH DRAKE AIR

The Approach to Glacier National Park shows the source of the waterfall from the glacier above.
Davidson Glacier, a beautiful river of ice.
The glacier empties into a beautiful colored bay

The blue and greens of the silted meltwater form exquisite lakes before emptying into the bay.

Deep snow hides deep crevasses. Melting snow forms small emerald blue ponds on the surface of the glacier. As the temperatures increase in the coming weeks, these ponds will string together and form chutes of running water that eventually drain deep into the glacier via moulons.
Centuries of snow pack create fabulous ice sculptured mountains.
Glacier Bay NP Mountains

The source of the glacier starts high up the mountains and forms highways of ice that descend to the sea.
