Dancers from the Spot at Just Dance Studios participated in their first competition of the season this past weekend.
Dancers ages 7-18 competed in an array of styles, including jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop and ballet.
The StarQuest Dance Competition took place in Waterbury, CT. This is about an hour from Westport. The late nights and early mornings that come with dance competitions made for many dancers to have to pack up for the weekend and stay in Waterbury at a hotel.
Competition director, Lauren Barrett (second to the right), says she is extremely proud of her students' success this weekend. "In my 20 years of teaching I have never met a harder working group," Barrett said.
Students of all ages cheered each other on all weekend and were sure to maintain a good attitude the whole time. Pia Dottori '23 loves to help the younger students get over the nerves and find their love for performance.
The Spot ended off the weekend by receiving the Studio of Excellence award, meaning they are the highest scoring studio of the entire weekend.
