Mukilteo Elementary Falcon Spirit June 17, 2022

A message from Mr. Sackett

Falcon families,

I would like to start off with a huge THANK YOU for your continued support and understanding with another ever changing school year related to Covid Protocols. I am amazed at the way our Mukilteo Elementary students, parents, and staff have navigated this year. Everyone has been so understanding of the personal and family choices made for all to feel comfortable during what we all hope is the end of a lengthy pandemic! As students shared at our recent Leadership Picnic, they have made tremendous growth in academics, as well as, with their social interactions and leadership skills. Thank you for your continued support and positivity as we strive to do what is best for ALL of our students and provide safe, engaging learning environments that celebrate student growth and progress, while providing opportunities for students to S.O.A.R. (Seek Success, Overcome Challenges, Achieve Goals, Reach High).

While school is coming to a close I wish you the very best for the summer and hope you enjoy your time together. We look forward to our ongoing partnership in the upcoming school year. Have a wonderful summer and here's to hoping the summer-like weather comes soon! Also, don’t forget to read and practice a little math to keep those academic tools sharp during your weeks away!

~Jack Sackett, Principal, Mukilteo Elementary

ME Award Ceremony 2022

The Pat Cushing Award - “Relationships are everything.”

The Pat Cushing Award is named after the former Mukilteo Elementary principal who introduced the Leader in Me program to ME. Her passion for the value of student leadership and tireless efforts to implement the program led our school to become a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. The legacy Pat Cushing left is exemplified in this award named in her honor.

Award Criteria:

Outstanding 5th grade students are nominated who exemplify the inclusive nature of the Leader in Me principles by being leaders who inspire others. The students embody someone that goes above and beyond and is a role model for others. Usually two students are chosen, one boy and one girl. This varies from year to year according to how many students qualify. The student must exhibit leadership in several ways at school:

Show strength in personal victory habits

  • Be proactive - make choices that reflect our school’s motto SOAR
  • Habit 2 and 3 are demonstrated by how the student manages time, class work, and assignments
  • The student has demonstrated personal integrity in difficult situations.

Show strength in public victory habits

  • The student thinks win-win and seeks solutions that are mutually beneficial
  • The student synergizes, is a responsible and cooperative team player
Congratulations to this year's winners!

Moving or Transferring Schools?

With the end of the year fast approaching, Mukilteo Elementary would like to know if you will NOT be returning to our school for the 2022 – 2023 school year.

If you have a 5th grade student, they will be automatically enrolled into their next school. If you have a student currently attending ME and they WILL be returning next year, you do not need to do anything.

If you will be moving this summer, or your student will not be returning to ME for another reason, please fill out form below.

THANK YOU!

Community News
Washington Listens is a free, anonymous service for anyone in the state

Washington Listens provides support to people who feel sad, anxious, or stressed due to the events of this year including COVID-19 and wildfires. It is a partnership of several agencies from across the state to provide emotional and mental support to individuals and families during these trying times, and links to community resources. The program was created in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and has since been expanded to support those affected by wildfires.

The Mukilteo School District acknowledges that we are gathered on Indigenous Lands, the traditional territory of the Coast Salish People, specifically the Tulalip Tribes, successors in interest to the Snohomish, Snoqualmie, Skykomish, and other allied bands signatory to the 1855 Treaty to Point Elliott. The district serves a diverse population of about 15,000 students who live near the Puget Sound about 15 miles north of Seattle, Washington. Our mission is to help prepare our community's children to be successful, contributing members of the community. Our students learn in an environment that is positive, caring, and focused on their highest academic potential. And, it's working. Mukilteo students consistently score well in annual achievement tests and win academic honors. Many people have moved to the area because of the first-rate Mukilteo school system.
