Principal Hauser's Eagle Update

This Week Around East!

Students in Ms. Budnick and Mrs. Dinser's 6th grade social studies classes spent the last two weeks creating their own board games on the Western Hemisphere! To close out the week they celebrated all their hard work by playing each other's games. So much knowledge and creativity was show in their final projects!

MSE Eagle of the Week!

New to MSE this year is the "Eagle of the Week" Award. Each week, teachers will nominate and we will select about one student from each grade level that goes above and beyond each and every day in the classroom and in our school. These students will be honored with a nomination by a teacher, they'll get to take a picture with our "Eagle Trophy" and they sign their name on the trophy where it will stay for years to come! Next time you're at MSE, stop by the showcase in the main lobby to see the trophy and the students who have won it so far! This weeks Eagles of the Week are Jesus R (nominated by Mrs. Ferrington) and Chloe M (nominated by Mrs. Moews).

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR

Congrats to our "Positive Office Referral" Students thus week. Great job to Tobie M, Brian H, and Joselyn S.

This weeks Counselor's Corner article comes from Mr. Alesi. Give it a read if you are curious how anxiety impacts teenagers. We have many resources here at MSE to help students struggling with anxiety - please reach out to your child's counselor for information and help.

Positive You Week #15 Focus: Courage

In this week’s video, Kenny and Shelby focus on the importance of Courage in reaching our goals and overcoming barriers.

High School North Freshman Parent Orientation

Parents of 8th grade students: Please save the date for HSN Freshman Parent Orientation Meeting that will take place on Wednesday February 8th at 6pm at High School North. Please see the attached letter below for more information from HSN Principal Mrs. Beard.

At East, we want every student to be involved and feel a sense of belonging to the school community. Whether it's with sports, or after school clubs, every student should be involved in some way! Below are some announcements from various clubs.

Art Club

The MSE Art Club is back! Art Club will meet two Tuesdays a month from 3:05-4:30. Students must be picked up by 4:30. While Mrs. Winters would love every Eagle to join, she only has 32 seats in the Art Room. Therefore, students will need to complete an application and turn it in to Mrs. Winters by 1/31. Applications can be picked up and return outside of the art room. See attached for more info.

Chicago 2023

Pankow Center Career Night is Wednesday, March 22, 2023! It is a unique, information-sharing, opportunity which provides a forum for students and families to “meet and greet” various career professionals and ask them questions regarding their occupations and personal career paths. We will have between 55-65 volunteers representing careers from each of the six Michigan Career Pathways (career fields). It is a great opportunity for students to talk face-to-face and get thinking about their educational path and its relationship to their future careers.
