First African-American player to ever win the Heisman Trophy in 1961.

"Nothing would have equaled Ernie Davis and Jim Brown," former Browns owner Art Modell said. Davis was diagnosed with a highly toxic form of leukemia shortly after being drafted out of Syracuse University, where he starred at halfback and defensive back.

Died at the age of 23 because of Leukemia
