The journey you are about to embark on will stretch and grow you as a person in ways you can't image today. Don't take for granted this opportunity because God is going to use you to impact the people around you for His glory.
These next four years at Embry-Riddle will have many ups and downs and sometimes, in the moment, you will want to give up and call it quits, but just take a step back and remember why you are here and remember to trust the process and journey God has you on. Getting through the hard times and coming out stronger on the other end is what life is all about.
It's not the circumstances that define you, but it's how you choose to react to them that truly shape and mold you into the person you will be for the rest of your life.
You will learn what it looks like to be a part of a team that cares about each other and a team that strives for greatness everyday. The qualities you will gain and the lessons you will learn from playing college basketball will be irreplaceable.
Don't lose sight of why God placed you on this team. Remember His love always and He will be your strength through it all.

Why did you choose ERAU?
I have always wanted to be an engineer. I remember being a kid back in Brazil and telling my friends that I wanted to move to the USA to play tennis for A university while getting my engineering degree. Some of my friends would even laugh at me. Many years later, when I found out about Embry-Riddle, I was extremely interested, but it wasn't until I actually came to campus and was welcomed by Coach Paschal and the tennis team That I knew this is where I wanted to be. I loved the city and the campus. The engineering department was excellent and the tennis team and program were amazing. There was no doubt I wanted to be an Eagle.
What’s your fondest memory as an ERAU student-athlete?
There are many memories that I will always take with me - like when the guys won their national championship!! But the one that personally sticks out was a match we played against our big rival at the time, Rollins. It was an away game and after very, very long hours in our BATTLE, the overall score was 4-4, and it came down to my match. I had lost the first set and WAS DOWN in the second. It was a very close game. Every point lasted so long! It was very cold and there were a lot of people cheering for Rollins, but the ERAU girls stayed there, right next to me, with blankets and screaming like their lives depended on it! They were on the court WITH me. Coach was also cheering for every point and really helped during that match. It was a battle! I ended up coming back to win the second and third set to win the match and as a result of this deciding point, our team won!
Who had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career?
There were two people that had a great influence on me during my athletic career. My teammate Rocio frej vitalle and Coach Paschal.
Rocio was a senior during my freshman year, and even though we were not teammates for that long, she really had a large impact on me. From the very beginning, she BELIEVED in me. She said that she knew I was going to be great and do great things, on and off the court. I can't even start to describe how my development went during those 5 years as an Eagle, but her words and attitude had a great impact on me.
As international athletes, we leave our countries and our families and move hundreds and hundreds miles away from our comfort zone. Coach Dave was the best coach I could have ever imagined. He was tough when he had to be, kind when he had to be, and always, always there by our side, on and off the court.
What do you remember most vividly about your time at ERAU?
In other countries, like Brazil, we don't get to play tennis as a team sport. We also don't have high school or college sports. seeing Not just the tennis team, but all the sports coming together for each other was an amazing experience. I will always be an Eagle!
What are some lessons you learned at ERAU that have served well in your life after college?
gratitude. There are so many things in life we should be thankful for and having gone through hardships while in college helped me put things into perspective.
What did you do right after graduating from ERAU?
Right after graduating from ERAU I traveled to Sweden for a festival called Sweden Rock Festival and had a blast. i got to watch over 40 bands perform in the beautiful Scandinavian land!
what are you doing now?
I moved away from sunny Brazil and Florida and I currently live in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I work for a company called American Governor as a controls engineer. As a controls engineer, I design control systems of hydro turbine governors. I travel all over the United States and commission our new governor systems. I also facilitate training at events such as Governor School USA and Governor School Brazil.
How did your experience at ERAU shape your career path?
TEAMWORK. Being a leader. Trying to inspire people. Those are important things when being an engineer and working in different projects.
What advice do you have for ERAU’s current student-athletes?
Seize the day!!!!
Enjoy every all-nighter, every tough practice, every conditioning that you feel like your are going to throw up, every party and even every bad grade!
I know it sounds cliche, but enjoy it all to the fullest because it DOES go by fast!
