In 1858, JD Young purchased the building in Greenwood, MN and moved it to Railroad Ave.
This was the only three story building in Delano.
In 1879, the hotel had expanded to 40 rooms and was considered one of the finest hotels on the rail line.
Many salesmen and other travelers came to the end of the train line and stayed the night. The next morning they would rent livery rigs to travel to outlying towns such as Watertown, Mayer, Lester Prairie and Winsted.
In 1896 a new celebrated drinking fountain was installed in front of the Great Northern Hotel by mason Mr. Revolt. It was both attractive and convenient, the city council was congratulated for their good judgement in funding it.

- 1975: The building fell into disrepair was demolished for the new Delano State Bank
