Watson And Crick

Watson and Crick were brilliant scientists who researched the structure of DNA (what holds the hereditary info for cells), they both worked at kings college in England and used X-Rays to study the DNA's structure. They won the 1962 Nobel prize for this research, the two of them together discovered the double helix formation of the DNA.

Chargaffs rule- DNA from a cell must have a 1:1 ratio of pyrimidine and purine bases and, the amount of guanine is equal to cytosine and the amount of adenine is equal to thymine
The base pairing rules are: A with T: the purine adenine (A) always pairs with the pyrimidine thymine (T) C with G: the pyrimidine cytosine (C) always pairs with the purine guanine (G)

Chromosome definition- a threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic info in the form of genes
A karyotype is the visual of the chromosomes in the cell nuclei of an organism

DNA is replicated when the double helix unwinds and each strand of the DNA acts as a trace for the new DNA to form.
