WHO WE ARE
Aruba Airport Authority N.V. Wings of Hope is a workgroup of volunteers within the organization who focus on executing social community projects benefiting the Aruban Community based on United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Wings of Hope was officially launched in 2020 and its initial focus was to provide social assistance to families in need with basic necessities, focusing on food and education due to Covid.
PRESENT
Wings of Hope's 2022 goals are based on five of the SDGs: No Hunger, Education, Awareness, Environment/Sustainable Airport Community, and Partnership.
CONTRIBUTING TO EARTH DAY 2022
AAA has partnered up with Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba (FPNA) for the development of their “Cas di Cultivo”, an integral part of their Flora Biodiversity Enhancement & Climate Resilient Program which was officially inaugurated on April 22, 2022. This program entails the cultivation of native and endemic flora species, that in the future will be planted in a closed off botanical garden network, which will be created and maintained by FPNA to serve as haven for local flora and fauna and as an example of sustainable gardening practices.
CONTRIBUTING TO EARTH DAY 2022
As part of WoH’s Environment/Sustainable Airport Community goal, WoH organized a beach cleanup on Saturday April 23, 2022 in the morning together with Scrubble Bubbles with more than 75 participants from the Airport Community, Grupo Scout Ora Ubao, family members and friends who helped clean the area at Rincon Beach.
SDG SCHOOL CHAMPION CHALLENGE SEMINAR 2022
A total of 16 schools participated in the SDG School Champion Challenge seminar 2022. The seminar program was filled with various presentations, valuable tips, and necessary tools to prepare a solid Sustainable project plan and a friendly SDG competition.
SDG School Champion Challenge 2022
On Saturday June 4, 2022 WoH held its SDG School Champion Challenge 2022 final event where a total of 12 schools participated and UNESCO Schools Aruba Consortium (UNESCO) was announced as the official winner of WoH’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) School Champion Challenge 2022.

As part of Wings of Hope's SDG Awareness Goal, UNESCO Schools Aruba Consortium was officially announced as the winner back in June of the SDG School Champion Challenge 2022 and received AWG 20,000.00 to execute their waste sustainably plan, which included the installation of recycling stations at each of the 4 UNESCO schools to collect cardboard, metal, plastic, and glass as well as compost organic waste.
SDG 6K FUN WALK & RUN 2022
Wings of Hope organized the first 6K Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Awareness Fun Walk & Run-on Saturday September 3, 2022.
A total of 211 participants joined the SDG Fun Walk & Run in order to raise funds for Micky’s Foundation and Stichting Casa Cuna Progreso and to create awareness on the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals set forth by United Nations. The two foundations were chosen by AAA employees via e poll.
Wings of Hope will continue contributing to the Aruban community as sustainability is one of AAA’s strategic pillars being a guiding principle for the company and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are anchored in the purpose, vision, values, and strategies of the organization.
