Mayan Homes By: Maya-Wadida dennaoui

The Mayans had round homes that only had one room. Sometimes there would be another home that connected to the first, and it would probably be a kitchen. The women would cook on three stones.

Usually the walls of the Mayan houses were made out of mud or stone. The roofs were made out of hay. They needed roofs because of rain or snow. Some houses were basic and didn't have stairs. Others had wide stairs. The temperature was rather cool and the rooms were quite big.

Inside the Mayan Homes

Windows were very rare in a Mayan house. Inside the house, there would be soft cushions as pillows and the beds had cotton sheets. Sometimes there would also be hammocks to sleep on. In the corner of the room would be pots full of water for the people to drink and maybe for some farmers to water their crops. Mayans will also keep weapons in case any danger came or any animals came.

The Mayans also made their houses out of straw tied together with string. They would use stone that they found near by. Mayans would also use a mixture of mud.
