This is what Pastor Brown says about Family Camp:
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the wonderful memories that my family and I had at Family Camp! The entire experience was truly unforgettable, and we are already looking forward to returning in 2025. From the moment we arrived, we knew the Spirit of the Lord was in the place. We felt like we were always a part of the family even though it was our first time. We made friends of a life-time.
We were struck by the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding landscape. The crisp mountain air and sparkling blue lakes were the perfect backdrop for a week of adventure and relaxation. My children especially loved running and playing and enjoying all the many friends and activities of the week.
But what truly made the week so special was the chapel services and the fellowship. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great time. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were part of the family, surrounded by like-minded people who shared our love for the family and the Lord Jesus. Thank you again for such an incredible week. We will cherish the memories from our time at Family Camp 2022 and can't wait to create more in the future!
What people are saying about Family Camp
Pastor and Mrs. John Wilkerson:
“Family Camp has been such a great blessing to attend. Sweet friendships are forged, Biblical messages are heard, Christ-honoring music is shared, and spiritual decisions are made that bless us every day and eternally. The wholesome atmosphere and heart to strengthen Christian families will bless any serious patrons. Linda and our children come off the mountain challenged and encouraged every year we have come.”
Pastor and Mrs. Matthew Miller
“Brother Gordon had invited us to attend their annual Family Camp for several years, but we had just never put it in our schedule. Finally in 2022, we signed up to attend and are so glad we did!
The Alley’s know how to put on a great camp. From the food, to the fun, to the music and preaching, every phase of camp was well-planned out and organized.
I highly recommend putting Family Camp on your schedule. It is the camp to attend in Colorado.”
Pastor Corey Seulean:
“What a blessing Family Camp has been for my family and for my church people. Cornerstone Baptist Church of Greater Denver and the Alley family have gone all out! They have the week well-planned, great food, amazing accommodations and terrific speakers. It truly is a joy to go every year and we are so looking forward to Family Camp. Come on out enjoy a week in the mountains of Colorado with your family and the people of God! Hope to see you there.”
Mrs. Pam Seulean:
“I really appreciated being able to not only hear tremendously helpful teaching and preaching during camp, but also the time to rest and relax. I find being in nature and the mountains makes me more conscious of the Lord, and it was personally refreshing to be able to take a ramble with Bingley and commune with God by myself. I loved having the split sessions with the ladies and girls. Each teacher brought messages that were especially applicable to us. I also loved having the Wilkersons- who undoubtedly have done much right in marriage, child-rearing, and ministry- teach us about family and ministry! Our son Jack was thrilled with all the physical activities offered, as well as the great food and nice accommodations. We love family camp!”
Pastor and Mrs. Gabe Skillo
“My family and I have attended Family Camp, on the Grand Mesa, with Cornerstone Baptist Church of Greater Denver for the past two years. Each year, it has been very enjoyable for the whole family. It is a great break for my wife and I, and it’s a lot of fun for the boys. There are a few things that make this camp unique. First, the food is outstanding! Next, the location and facilities are absolutely beautiful. Third, the schedule is much easier than other camps I have attended. Furthermore, the Alley family is a very special family. My wife and I are always challenged when we observe their Christian example.”
Mr. & Mrs. Dawe Khusay:
“Camp is a great place to meet new friends and relax and enjoy God’s creation. My wife enjoyed serving and helping in preparing meals, and I enjoyed having a crazy time with the teen guys. Some of the after-hours included cleaning and cooking fish for a midnight snack, playing uno, and having hot pepper challenges. Game time for the youth were surely competitive. If you come to camp and are a teen guy, join me in raiding the kitchen for some midnight snacks!”

Pastor John Wilkerson grew up in Tennessee and was saved as a child. His wife Linda (Francis) grew up in Massachusetts and was also saved as a child. John and Linda met at Hyles-Anderson College. John graduated from Hyles-Anderson College in 1989, and Linda graduated in 1990. They were married in the summer of 1989.
After graduation, John taught at First Baptist Church’s City Baptist Schools for one year until moving to California to teach high school at First Baptist Church of Long Beach. In 1993, he assumed the position of principal of Calvary Christian School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, until returning to California to become the eighteenth pastor of First Baptist Church of Long Beach in June of 2000, where church services in English, Korean, and Spanish were conducted every week. The Sunday school program grew in attendance from 849 to over 1,700 in the 12 years that he was pastor at First Baptist Church of Long Beach.
In August of 2008, the Wilkersons lost their 17-year-old son Tyler as the result of a car accident. The following Sunday, Pastor Wilkerson preached a sermon entitled “God Makes No Mistakes.” God has used their testimony to help many hurting families.
Brother Wilkerson became the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, in February of 2013. He is known for his soul winning, preaching, and love for Christ and othe
