"Dandara sings as one who reinvents the world. There is no way to destroy a country capable of generating a Dandara." José Eduardo Agualusa for O Globo.

Dandara Modesto is a Brazilian singer, performer and music producer based in Zurich/Switzerland. Poetic, powerful and tropical, she reflects in her voice a contemporary Brazilian music rooted in the tradition of Brazilian song and popular Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Celebrated and respected in the music scene, she has collaborated with transdisciplinary projects in music, dance, theater, visual arts, and performance in Brazil and Europe. She has performed on major stages around the world, such as Auditório Ibirapuera (BR), Blackbox Gasteig (DE), and Moods (CH). He has produced, composed and directed soundtracks for films and shows, such as "Movimento III_Celebration, post tsunami foams" (Mario Lopes), "Afrotranstopia (Mario Lopes, David, Mahal Pita), "Neon Bush Girl Society" (Latefa Wirsch, Rhoda Davis). Her debut album, "Dois Tempos de Um Lugar", in partnership with Paulo Monarco, was released in 2016. In 2022 she received the Swiss Performance Arts Award for the performance "Neon Bush Girl Society". In her latest album "Estrangeira", recorded between Switzerland Portugal Galicia and Brasil, Dandara sings about the female body in transit, migration, the power of otherness and ancestry.

In Estrangeira, Dandara guides us through a transdisciplinary performance along the paths of foreignness and the displacement of a female body (whatever that means). With a script by Patricia Black and Dandara Modesto, the songs weave images with Videomapping, sounds, light and performance.
