Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!
Our children have been enjoying different extra-curricular activities and sporting competitions recently. Year 5 have had the fantastic opportunity to work alongside Barnsley College to learn all about esports, while we have enjoyed recent sports competitions with local schools in handball and dance (skipping). I am always impressed with how well our children represent the school – they are fantastic ambassadors and we are incredibly proud of them! Mrs Walton has also started an Arts Club this half term which has proven very popular with our children. We have been blown away with the artistic talents of the children and also how hard they are all working to improve their skills even further.
Please come and join us for our MacMillan Coffee Morning on Wednesday 6th April starting at 8:30am for family and friends of the school. Any donations of cakes or buns on 5th April would be very welcome. Thank you to West Meadows Community Group (PTA) for organising this event for us!
Next week we will be celebrating Easter in school. We will be holding two competitions which will be judged in school on Friday 8th April. Our EYFS and Key Stage 1 children are invited to make an Easter Bonnet at home while our Key Stage 2 children are invited to decorate an egg. We are looking forward to seeing your ‘egg-cellent’ creations! Father Richard Parker will be joining us to choose a winner from each class. Good luck to everyone!
We are holding an Easter Disco for our children on Friday afternoon. Children can come in non-school uniform on this day and bring 50p for sweets and a drink. The money raised by West Meadows Community Group will go towards our fundraising to improve the school playground for all our children.
We are looking forward to welcoming parents for Parents’ Evening on Tuesday 5th April from 2:00pm to share how your children are progressing this year and give you an opportunity to talk to their class teacher. We will be holding this in the hall. Please come into school via the main entrance no earlier than 5 minutes before your first appointment time. If you do have an appointment time before 3:00pm and would like to collect your child / children after your appointment, please ask at the main reception so that children can be signed out of school. Please do not go through to your child’s classroom.
Every Monday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life.
